the very last line of the film was, “a more thoughtful argument is to assess your actions and if you think they will increase the standard of living and the happiness of society.” i guess my question would be “why?” if you can oppress everyone around you and live like a king all of your days, then why try to benefit society? even if your actions lead to the decline of society, what does it matter if you won’t even be around to see it anyway? if you’re going to spend an entire video making the argument that morality is plastic and flexible, then why advocate a system of decision making based on the good of society? to me, if morality is “plastic and flexible,” and there’s no God that cares one way or another what i do, i think that i ought to assess my actions and if i think they will increase the standard of living and the happiness of ME. screw society. it’s certainly not evil in a plastic morality… but i think we know better…
